About Kevin Vandivier – Fine Art Photographer
Artist Statement
For more than five decades, I’ve chased light across Texas and beyond—through mountains, deserts, coastlines, quiet streets, and ordinary places transformed by a moment of beauty. Photography has always been more than a craft for me; it has been a way to honor the Creator who designed the world and the people in it. Every image I make begins with that sense of wonder.
My career has taken me from National Geographic Society to Smithsonian, Nikon, and Texas Highways, and I’ve been honored with awards and magazine covers over the years. But the truth is, somebody has to win those awards, and somebody’s photograph has to land on those covers. What means the most to me—more than any recognition—is when someone reaches into their pocket and spends their hard-earned money on one of my prints. Knowing that my photograph will hang in their home for the next 15 or 20 years… to me, that is the ultimate compliment. Nothing beats that.
I’m drawn to scenes where light, story, and spirit intersect—where a landscape becomes a prayer, where a person reveals something honest, or where an unexpected moment becomes timeless. My hope is that the viewer feels the same sense of gratitude and awe I felt when I pressed the shutter.
Every print is crafted with the intention that it will live with someone for decades. My goal is not just to decorate a room, but to offer a piece of beauty that brings peace, reflection, and inspiration into everyday life. Ultimately, my work is about gratitude—for the light, for the stories, and for the God who makes all things beautiful in His time. I’m honored to share these moments with you. My photographic journey began long before I ever held a professional camera. As a kid, I was fascinated not just by what I saw, but by the light that shaped it. That curiosity eventually grew into a lifelong profession—one that has taken me across the country and into moments I never could have imagined.
Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with the National Geographic Society, Smithsonian, Nikon, and Texas Highways Magazine. I’ve freelanced, taught workshops, served as the Photo Editor for Texas Highways, and continued to build a body of fine art that reflects my love for God’s creation and the stories found in everyday life.
My work has appeared on magazine covers, in major publications, and in galleries, restaurants, and private collections. I’ve been honored with numerous awards along the way, but more than the recognition itself, I’m grateful for the experiences behind each image—the early mornings, the storms rolling in, the unexpected encounters, and the quiet moments when the light does something unforgettable.
Photography has allowed me to meet incredible people, explore remote wilderness, walk the streets of cities across the country, and witness scenes that stopped me in my tracks. It’s also taught me patience, gratitude, and the importance of seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary.
Today, I continue to create fine-art photography from my home base in the Texas Hill Country. I split my work into two distinct collections:
Decor-focused fine art prints at kodakkevin.com
Limited-edition collector prints at kevinv.com
Whether I’m photographing a rugged mountain range, the simplicity of a lodge wall at dusk, or a person caught in a genuine moment, my goal is always the same: to honor the beauty God has placed around us and to capture it in a way that resonates with others.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my journey. I’m grateful to continue sharing these moments with you.
